Two Joomla sites launch
I've been experimenting with Joomla, and open source content management system, and have found it to be a powerful tool. As part of the experiment, I have modified existing templates to create a custom look, and then have redesigned two existing sites with the program. Here are the new sites. Both are completely user-editable through a browser-based interface, and there is no loss in design. Kalmar Castle Comes to Life
This summer I traveled to Kalmar, Sweden to help the staff at Barometern Oskarshamns-Tidningen produce their first large multimedia project. The subject is a local treasure, Kalmar Castle, which played a big part in Swedish history from its construction in the 12th century. The castle is incredibly well preserved and is a big draw for tourism, so we knew any project would have great shelf life.
Swarm Interactive scored a Silver in the 2008 SND Best of Multimedia Design Contest. The project, an interactive look at evolution, was produced for Discovery.com and can be seen here on the Science Channel. The project features basic information on the theory of evolution, and then allows the viewer to play an evolution game called "Who Wants to Live a Million Years?" In the game, the player tries to guide help a species survive Earth's changing conditions.
